Volunteering
Volunteering is the most crucial aspect of what makes swim teams work. Other than our coaches, there are NO paid positions on the Board; therefore, your participation is a requirement for all swim meets. At the beginning of the season, you will provide a $150 guarantee that your family will work 7 shifts on some authorized activity throughout the season.
Volunteer Positions
| Concessions | Work at the concession stand during the practice meet and home meets. There are two shifts at each home meet. Each shift is worth one credit. While working concessions, please understand that you will NOT be able to leave the concessions area to go watch your child swim. |
| Setup/Cleanup | Help setup the pool late Friday night. The Friday night shift starts at 9pm and can run until 11pm. Wokring the Friday night shift is worth 1 credit. In order to earn a credit on Saturday, you must work both the Saturday morning setup 1 hours prior to the start of the home meet and 1 hour tear down at the end of the home meet. |
| Awards Ceremony | Organize award ceremony, including trophies, presentations, refreshments, and activities at the end of the swim season. There are normally several people involved in this planning process . |
| Team Parent | Organize swimmers in the team area prior to their events and get swimmers to the ready bench in heat order. Each girl/boy age group through 9/10 age group needs a team parent. Parents should write swimmers events on swimmers arm. |
| Scribes | Record times of swimmers cards and ribbons during meet. |
| Ready Bench | Organize and guide swimmers from the ready bench to the starting block. |
| Runner | Carry's swimmer's cards to scribes and scoring table. |
| Scoring/Ribbon Writing | Enter times/scores for meets and entry forms, record place/hear ribbons. |
| Timers | Serve on a team of three timers per lane using stop watches to time the heats of each event. |
| Announcer | Announce meet, upcoming events and new records as they occur during the meet. Swim Team experience is required for this position. The announcer must announce the entire meet and will receive 2 credits for announcing one full meet. This position is already taken for the 2010 season. |
| Referee | Official in charge of meet, NWAL class test and certification is required. |
| Stroke/Turn Starter | Officials at meet, NWAL class test and certifications is required. |
| Fundraising | Solicit sponsors for heat sheets, awards, ribbons, dinners, T-shirts, gifts, food, etc. |
